Position: Competition Supervisor (Paid Role)
Event: 60th Good Neighbour Volleyball Tournament

Position Summary:
The Competition Supervisor will support Volleyball ACT in delivering a smooth and well-organised 60th Good Neighbour Volleyball Tournament. This role involves overseeing venue operations, managing match logistics, supporting event staff and participants, and ensuring adherence to competition rules, health, and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Event Preparation:

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the first matches.

  • Set up the Court Supervisor table/office.

  • Organise scoresheets, pens, and other administrative materials.

  • Ensure all court equipment, including net heights, flags, balls, and whistles, are correctly set up.

During Event Duties:

  • Open, close, and supervise the venue during events.

  • Ensure all matches start and end on time.

  • Enter match results into the Competition Management System accurately.

  • Ensure duty teams complete their responsibilities as outlined in the tournament Rules and Regulations.

  • Respond to player, coach, and manager inquiries, referring complex issues to the VACT office.

  • Assist with basic first aid requests and ensure any injuries are properly documented on scoresheets and injury forms.

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards at the venue.

  • Inform the office of any additional supply needs (e.g., pens, whistles, antennas, bins).

End-of-Day Duties:

  • Submit all outstanding scoresheets and results to the Results Coordinator.

  • Communicate team placings and schedules for upcoming matches.

  • Deliver collected monies, injury forms, complaint forms, and other documentation to the VACT office.

Complaint Management:

  • Act as a first point of contact for minor issues or disputes.

  • Facilitate on-the-spot resolution where appropriate.

  • Refer unresolved issues, past complaints, or major incidents (e.g., verbal or physical abuse) to the VACT office.

  • Prepare written reports for any major incidents.

Key Requirements:

  • Familiarity with volleyball competition rules and match procedures.

  • Comfortable using a Competition Management System for score entry.

  • Experience in customer service or working with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to bring a personal laptop to the event for administrative tasks.

  • Passion for volleyball or sports in general.
