🏐 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – PLAYVOLLEY COACHES (CANBERRA)

Volleyball ACT is seeking Expressions of Interest from coaches to join our PlayVolley delivery team in Canberra.

About PlayVolley

PlayVolley is Volleyball Australia’s grassroots participation program for children aged 5–12, designed to introduce children to volleyball and sport in a fun, welcoming and engaging environment.

The program focuses on participation, confidence, fundamental movement skills, physical literacy and game-based learning, rather than traditional performance-focused coaching. Coaches will use fun activities and games to help children develop their skills while building a positive and inclusive relationship with sport.

We are looking for coaches who:

• Enjoy working with children
• Bring energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
• Can create fun, engaging and inclusive environments
• Are confident leading groups of children
• Are willing to learn and apply the PlayVolley coaching approach
• Can commit to regular sessions and provide consistency for participants

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

• Junior sport coaching
• School-based sport delivery
• Volleyball coaching
• Physical education or teaching
• Holiday or community program delivery

Requirements

• Valid Volleyball Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation or higher
• Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or willingness to obtain one
• Availability to deliver sessions in Canberra
• Willingness to attend PlayVolley coach induction/training
• Ability to commit to regular sessions and provide consistent coaching

📍 Current Coaching Opportunities

We currently have two PlayVolley delivery opportunities available:

Opportunity 1 – Canberra Grammar School

• Program: Kindergarten – Year 2
• Duration: 7 weeks
• Frequency: Once a week
• Coach Shift: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Participants: Approximately 30 children
• Location: Grass or basketball court
• Coaches required: 2

School staff will also be present to assist with participant supervision and behaviour management.

Opportunity 2 – VACT Beach PlayVolley Centre

We are launching our own PlayVolley program at the VACT Beach Volleyball Facility in Lyneham.

• Start Date: 23 October 2026
• Day: Every Friday
• Program Time: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
• Coach Shift: 2 hours
• Location: VACT Beach Volleyball Facility, Lyneham

💼 Employment

All PlayVolley coaches will be engaged under casual employment arrangements and paid for their work. This is a paid coaching opportunity and not a volunteer position.

Consistency is particularly important for PlayVolley programs. We are ideally looking for coaches who can commit to their allocated sessions regularly and build a positive connection with the children and families participating in the program.

For coaches who demonstrate reliability and a strong approach to PlayVolley delivery, there may be further coaching opportunities with Volleyball ACT in the future.
