
Coaching in volleyball is a rewarding opportunity to support athlete development and contribute to the sport at all levels. Coaches can work with local clubs, deliver Spikezone programs, or lead representative teams to national competitions such as AYVC and AYBVC.
How to Become a Coach with Volleyball ACT
To coach with any Volleyball ACT-affiliated club or program, you must hold at least a Level 1 Volleyball Australia Coaching Accreditation. The steps below outline how to achieve this.
1. Age Requirement
You must turn at least 14 years old during the calendar year you begin your accreditation.
2. Volleyball ACT Membership
You must be a current registered member of Volleyball ACT. Some ACT clubs include Volleyball ACT registration as part of their club membership.

3. Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card
You must hold a valid WWVP card issued by Access Canberra. This is mandatory for all coaches working with players under 18.

4. Complete the Online Course – Fundamentals of Coaching
You must complete the Volleyball Australia Fundamentals of Coaching online course. You are encouraged to discuss coaching opportunities and support available with your club as you complete the course.

5. Submit an Accreditation Application
After completing the course, submit your application via the Volleyball Australia Accreditation Portal for approval by Volleyball ACT.

Volleyball ACT Coach Payment Policy
Volleyball ACT acknowledges the vital role coaches play in developing athletes, building club capacity, and growing the sport across the territory.
Coaches are responsible for leading training sessions, supporting teams on game days, and promoting values such as teamwork, discipline, respect and fair play. They are essential to the success of our competitions and programs.
To recognise this contribution, Volleyball ACT has introduced a coach payment policy for eligible Open League and CVL coaches. The full policy is available in the attachment below.
